due to damaged schools :(
Dozens of students at the Madrasah Aliyah Kholid bin Walid Islamic high school in Porong, Sidoarjo, East Java, were forced to take the National Examinations (UN) in a resident’s house because their school building was still buried under mud.

“We don’t have any other place as we still don’t have a new building to replace the old building, which was buried by the mud,” Madrasah principal Ali Masad said on Monday, as quoted by Antara news agency.

He said that about 23 students were cramped inside two small rooms and sat too close to each other. However, Ali ensured that the students were heavily supervised by the local education agency officers.

The mudflow was created by a blowout at a natural gas well drilled by PT Lapindo Brantas, although company officials contend it was caused by a distant earthquake.
